But it also seems to support the cardiovascular system and is claimed to assist in the prevention of cancer.\u00a0 Super food?\u00a0 Maybe!<\/p>\n<p>Kale is rich in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vitamin K, Vitamin A,<\/li>\n<li>Vitamin C, Manganese,<\/li>\n<li>Fibre, Copper,<\/li>\n<li>Calcium, Tryptophan,<\/li>\n<li>B6, Potassium, Folate,<\/li>\n<li>Anti-inflammatory properties,<\/li>\n<li>Antioxidants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>and much more!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So my goal was to find a way to get more of this little gem into our diet.\u00a0 While green smoothies are an easy way to do so, I must admit, I\u2019m not really that partial to them.\u00a0 Soup however is one thing that I love eating.\u00a0 I like that all the goodness stays in the bowl and I am able to eat it all.\u00a0 And that was exactly what I wanted to do when I developed this recipe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I wanted something healthy that tasted delicious and honoured the main ingredient.\u00a0 I think I managed to achieve it all and even felt healthier when I was eating it. (See tips for vegan and paleo option).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ce2307;\">green power soup (recipe by Fiona at Food 4 Thought).<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ce2307;\"> serves\u00a04 &#8211; Makes approximately 1.25l<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Ingredients<\/span><br \/>\n25g parmesan cheese, 1cm cubes (Optional, for non paleo)<br \/>\n1\/2\u00a0onion, cut into quarters<br \/>\n1 large clove garlic, peeled<br \/>\n10g olive oil<br \/>\n200g kale (leaves only, stalks removed), washed and roughly chopped<br \/>\n300g hot water<br \/>\n150g broccoli, cut into bite size florets<br \/>\n150g frozen peas<br \/>\n1\u00a0tablespoon TM stock concentrate<br \/>\nhandful of basil leaves, or herbs of your choice<br \/>\n1 tablespoon coconut cream<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Preparation<\/span><br \/>\nPlace cheese into TM bowl and grate for <strong>10 seconds<\/strong> on <strong>speed 7<\/strong>.\u00a0 Remove and set aside.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add onion and garlic to TM bowl, chop for <strong>3 seconds<\/strong> on <strong>speed 7.\u00a0 <\/strong>Add oil and cook for<strong>\u00a04<strong> minutes<\/strong> at <strong>100<\/strong><strong>\u00b0C <\/strong>on <strong>speed 1<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add chopped kale and water to TM bowl.\u00a0 Cook for <strong>3 minutes<\/strong> at <strong>100<\/strong><strong>\u00b0C <\/strong>on <strong>soft speed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add broccoli, peas and stock, cook for <strong>15 minutes <\/strong>at <strong>100<\/strong><strong>\u00b0C <\/strong>on <strong>speed 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once cooked, add grated cheese (if using), herbs and coconut cream.\u00a0 Blend by <strong>slowly turning to<\/strong> <strong>speed 5<\/strong>, then increasing speed and blitzing for <strong>30 seconds<\/strong> at <strong>speed 8.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Check for seasoning and adjust as desired.\u00a0 Serve with paleo croutons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">My tips\/alterations:<\/span> *This soup comes up quite thick, if you&#8217;d like it thinner then add some more water.\u00a0 *If you find the earthy flavour of the Kale too strong you can add extra peas and more herbs.\u00a0 You could also add some celery and\/or carrot into the mix when you chop the onion.\u00a0 *I designed this recipe for the Thermomix BUT you can make this in a pot and blender like any other soup.\u00a0 *Don&#8217;t chop the Kale in the TM\u00a0because if you over work the vegetables before they are cooked they will become bitter.\u00a0\u00a0 *The cream at the end is optional, however it does bring out the sweetness in the dish very well.\u00a0 *If you would like this to be vegan or paleo, then simply leave out the cheese and cream.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Green-power-soup.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2614\" title=\"Green power soup\" src=\"http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Green-power-soup-486x575.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"486\" height=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Green-power-soup-486x575.jpg 486w, https:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Green-power-soup-253x300.jpg 253w, https:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Green-power-soup-126x150.jpg 126w, https:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Green-power-soup-400x472.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Green-power-soup.jpg 683w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 486px) 100vw, 486px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>e<\/strong><strong>ase: 9.5\/10.\u00a0<\/strong> The hardest part is washing the Kale.<br \/>\n<strong>prep time: 5mins<\/strong><strong>.<br \/>\ncooking time: 25mins<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>total:\u00a030 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>taste: 8.5\/10.<\/strong> I loved this soup.\u00a0 I even felt better as I ate it.\u00a0 I think G was a little less reserve with his score because he is not as big a fan of that earthy quality that comes from the dark green hero.\u00a0<strong> 7\/10 <\/strong>from G.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>would I make it again:<\/strong> <strong>Yes.\u00a0<\/strong> Every time I feel like I need a kick start. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the season starting to move towards winter G and I have both suffered with a slight sore throat and minor head cold.
