luckily the same does\u00a0not need to be said about making these cookies!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ce2307;\">chocolate chip cookies\u00a0\u2013 (recipe from The Australian Women&#8217;s Weekly\u00a0Big Book of Beautiful Biscuits \u2013 adapted by Fiona at Food 4 Thought)<br \/>\nmakes about 35<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Ingredients<br \/>\n<\/span>125g unsalted butter<br \/>\n1\/2 cup sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 cup brown sugar (lightly packed)<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon vanilla extract<br \/>\n1 egg<br \/>\n1 3\/4 cups self-raising\u00a0flour<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n150g dark chocolate chips<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Preparation<\/span><br \/>\nPreheat oven to 180\u00b0C.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cream together butter, both sugars and vanilla until light and fluffy.\u00a0 Add lightly beaten egg gradually, beating well after each addition.\u00a0 Mix in sifted flour and salt.\u00a0 Add chocolate chips and mix well to distribute throughout dough.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shape teaspoonfuls of mixture into small balls, place on a lined oven tray allowing room to spread slightly.\u00a0 Bake in oven for 10 &#8211; 12 minutes, until just golden brown.\u00a0 Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">My tips\/alterations:<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0*The original recipe used 125g chocolate chips and 60g walnut pieces.\u00a0 I used Lindt dark chocolate blocks that I smashed up.\u00a0 This meant that there were some large and small pieces throughout the mixture.\u00a0 *I made my cookies about half the size of a golf ball or a little bigger.\u00a0 That way they were bit size and you didn&#8217;t feel guilty for having more than one&#8230;&#8230;or two.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-911\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/?attachment_id=911\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-911\" title=\"Chocolate chip cookies\" src=\"http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Blog-CCC-2-22.5.10-300x253.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Blog-CCC-2-22.5.10-300x253.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Blog-CCC-2-22.5.10-575x486.jpg 575w, http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Blog-CCC-2-22.5.10-150x126.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Blog-CCC-2-22.5.10-400x338.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Blog-CCC-2-22.5.10.jpg 807w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ease: 9\/10.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>prep time:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>30mins.\u00a0 <\/strong>Rolling the mixture into balls takes most of this.<br \/>\n<strong>cooking time: 12mins.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>total: 42mins.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>taste: 9\/10.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Fresh from the oven I think I <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">ate<\/span> tested four, or maybe five.\u00a0 After they had cooled I had to try another just to make sure they were the right texture.\u00a0 Crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, perfect.\u00a0 The dough is a little sweet because of the two different sugars and the dark chocolate has a slight bitterness to it, they balanced each other in complete harmony.\u00a0\u00a0I could rave about these all day long but I think you should do yourself a favour and\u00a0make them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>would I make it again:\u00a0\u00a0Absolutely.<\/strong>\u00a0 These won&#8217;t slip off my repertoire again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cookies (or biscuits if you live down under) are one of those things that can make anyone weak at the knees when they are fresh from the oven, especially if they are chocolate chip cookies.
