{"id":42,"date":"2010-01-25T17:55:54","date_gmt":"2010-01-25T09:55:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/?p=42"},"modified":"2010-02-25T21:24:41","modified_gmt":"2010-02-25T13:24:41","slug":"sushi-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/sushi-trial\/","title":{"rendered":"Sushi trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the things that I love about cooking is the constant learning that is involved.\u00a0 It is filled with trials and tribulations as well as successes and celebrations.\u00a0 Last night G &amp; I decided we would attempt to make sushi for the first time.\u00a0 Our effort definitely involved the former and not much of the later.\u00a0 When I started this blog I decided that no matter what the outcome, I would share it all.\u00a0 The sushi train journey began with me preparing all the ingredients, ensuring that things were chopped in an even manner and everything was organised for assembly.\u00a0 Our rice was cooked well and nicely seasoned, our bowl of water and sushi mat ready to go.\u00a0 We were aiming to create japanese sushi rolls (or nigiri) with fillings such as carrot, cucumber, chicken and egg.\u00a0 We also had some tuna with Japanese mayonnaise stirred through it.\u00a0 Our first effort ended with way too much rice and not much filling, the next was a little better but nowhere near perfect.\u00a0 We seemed to improve slightly until eventually the tortured ended when we ran out of rice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is no photographic evidence of our virginal sushi experience and for that I am grateful.\u00a0 However, G\u00a0and I agreed that the flavour was really good and we will definitely do it again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I have a new found respect for those who are skilled in this intricate art and hope that one day I can produce something that I am proud enough to put into print.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the things that I love about cooking is the constant learning that is involved.
