sugar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;ve always been one for testing things on myself just to see what happens, at least when it comes to food and exercise.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve tried many different lifestyles including Ayurvedic principles, vegetarianism (for a long time), gluten-free and dairy-free.\u00a0 Recently I&#8217;ve been reading about (and dabbling in) the Paleo lifestyle.\u00a0 What an interesting concept, especially for an ex-vegetarian :).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So part of the reason I developed these recipes was because they fitted the plan and also because I needed to feel &#8220;healthy&#8221; after the Christmas indulgences.\u00a0 So if you want some New Year zeal then try these.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ce2307;\">trio of\u00a0paleo smoothies\u00a0\u2013 mango and\u00a0coconut, (yummy) green smoothie, chocana almond, (recipes\u00a0created by Fiona at Food 4 Thought).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ce2307;\">mango and coconut\u00a0\u2013 makes approximately 1 \u00bd cups<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Ingredients<\/span><br \/>\n200g fresh mango flesh\u00a0(cut into\u00a0cubes)<br \/>\n100g coconut milk (slightly chilled)<br \/>\n50g ice cubes<br \/>\n100g almond milk (see tips for nut free options)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Preparation<\/span><br \/>\nPlace all ingredients into TM bowl and mix\u00a0for\u00a0<strong>1 minute <\/strong>on <strong>speed 10.\u00a0 <\/strong>Scrape\u00a0around\u00a0sides of bowl,\u00a0and pour into glass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Serve\u00a0immediately.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">My tips:<\/span> *If you don&#8217;t want to use coconut milk, you can just add more almond milk.\u00a0 If you prefer a nut free option you could\u00a0substitute coconut water or just chilled water.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>taste: 6.5\/10<\/strong> From G and <strong>8.5\/10 <\/strong>from me.\u00a0 This had an intense mango flavour.\u00a0 I liked this chilled a little after making it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ce2307;\">&#8220;green&#8221; smoothie &#8211; makes approximately\u00a01 \u00bd cups <\/span><em><br \/>\n<\/em><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Ingredients<\/span><em><br \/>\n<\/em>50g celery, chopped into 3cm pieces<br \/>\n50g spinach, washed and dried<br \/>\n150g nectarine or peach flesh\u00a0(approx. 3 &#8211; 4 small nectarines and 2 &#8211; 3 peaches with stone removed)<br \/>\n50g ice cubes<br \/>\n100g chilled water<br \/>\n10g raw honey<br \/>\nsqueeze lemon juice (approx. 2 teaspoon)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Preparation<\/span><br \/>\nPlace all ingredients into TM bowl and mix\u00a0for\u00a0<strong>1 minute <\/strong>on <strong>speed 10.\u00a0 <\/strong>Scrape\u00a0around\u00a0sides of bowl,\u00a0and pour into glass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Serve\u00a0immediately.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">My tips:<\/span> *You can use whatever &#8220;greens&#8221; you prefer.\u00a0 Try cucumber, a little mint and even some basil or coriander.\u00a0 *If you like it a little thinner in texture add a little bit more water.\u00a0 *Chill this before you drink it, it makes it much nicer and taste a little\u00a0less &#8220;green&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>taste: 9\/10<\/strong> From G for healthiness and as a choice of drink <strong>5\/10<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>8\/10 <\/strong>from me.\u00a0 Given that I&#8217;m not into &#8220;green&#8221; smoothies at all, I thought this was really good <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.foodfourthought.com.au\/blog\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_smile.gif\" alt=\":)\" \/> .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ce2307;\">chocana almond\u2013 makes approximately\u00a01 \u00bd cups<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Ingredients<\/span><br \/>\n1\u00a0frozen banana (approx. 120g)<br \/>\n150g almond milk<br \/>\n2 teaspoons agave nectar or honey<br \/>\n1 teaspoon raw cacao or cocoa powder<br \/>\nsmall handful of spinach (optional)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">Preparation<\/span><br \/>\nPlace all ingredients into TM bowl and mix\u00a0for\u00a0<strong>1 \u00bd minute <\/strong>on <strong>speed 10.\u00a0 <\/strong>Scrape\u00a0around\u00a0sides of bowl,\u00a0and pour into glass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Serve\u00a0immediately.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">My tips:<\/span> *You could make this nut free by adding your favourite milk, however some options may not be paleo.\u00a0 *I would suggest a mixture of coconut milk and coconut water as a great paleo nut free option.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>taste: 9\/10<\/strong> From G and <strong>9\/10 <\/strong>from me.\u00a0\u00a0We both\u00a0love this shake.\u00a0 Quick, easy and delicious!\u00a0 The end.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #346c17;\">My overall tips:<\/span> *For nutritional reasons, smoothies are always best consumed soon after they are made.\u00a0 However, if time dictates, you could make these and store them for use in the morning. \u00a0*Make these for breakfast to give you a morning full of energy or as a healthy\u00a0snack.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>e<\/strong><strong>ase: 9.5\/10.\u00a0 <\/strong>Healthy is easy.<br \/>\n<strong>prep time:\u00a015 minutes<\/strong><strong>.\u00a0 <\/strong>For all three.<strong><br \/>\ncooking time:\u00a00 minutes\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>total:\u00a015 minutes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>taste: 7.4\/10<\/strong>\u00a0 (on average) From G and <strong>8.5\/10\u00a0<\/strong>from me.\u00a0 A great healthy start to the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>would I make it again:\u00a0 Yes, yes and yes.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The start of a new year seems to be the time that many of us make resolutions to change something in our life for the better.
